As a first year student of the INSEEC business school, I had to do an internship in a foreign country during the three month of my summer period. I choose the company First Global Xpress, a small shipping company located in New York doing domestic and international shipping for small to large companies. FGX's biggest clients are COTY, the world's largest fragrance company, and HBO the premier cable channel in the United States and the world. Working with the marketing assistant, my main mission, during this internship, was to take part in the rebranding of the company.

Recommendations In order to face the competition and to become more environmentally, the company has to change quickly its current pollutant and old vehicles by hybrids or other more efficient vehicles. In fact, vehicles for a shipping company translate the image of the firm because people see it. FGX can also invest in ways to be greener and save energy such as recycling bins for paper, energy-efficient light bulbs or power-optimized laptops and desktops. [...]
[...] The company can also participate to green shows and launch a communication campaign about the green focus of the firm with the distribution of flyers for example. Concerning the interns, we were seven in the company, and I think it is a great thing to take interns but not so many because the work would have been more efficient if we have been less. Moreover, for the company it was not easy to manage and give directives to each one. Conclusion This internship was very interesting and useful. [...] To conclude, working in an international context is a real opportunity. Working in an American company gives me the occasion to confront various methods of work. It makes me a capable person who can adapt itself to any environment. We can notice that few Americans go outside their country in order to discover, to understand other methods. I had also to search and give ideas about ways the company can use to be greener with analyzing in part, what the other companies do to be greener and how they do it. I made a report with a lot of ideas for the firm in term of recycling, lighting, hybrids cars or computing solutions?In that way, I have also done some researches to find suppliers for hybrid or biodiesel vans and companies proposing more efficiency lighting solutions.
