Research project on using singing as a tool to enhance Arabic language learning in secondary schools, exploring its potential to improve language acquisition.
[...] The provisional title imagined for the thesis is as follows: The singing tool as an accelerator of Arabic language learning in college. The idea for this research object came to me from an intuition related to my experience within schools in Arab countries, in which during language classes, teachers would ask during the reading of poems if there were volunteers to find a rhythm and sing the poem. Also, at the end of the year, I was chosen with other students for end-of-year award projects to present a singing activity in front of all the students and I was given a gift at the end for my investment and participation. [...] Although the research question and theoretical support are not clearly formulated by the author, the article asks: in what way does the use of jazz-singing allow for better appropriation of the target language for the student? The author proposes, in the context of this teaching unit to use what she calls jazz-singing, composed of nursery rhymes and short poems, to help students memorize the language This activity is done in 3 steps: silent reading of the written song, marking the script by the student who must highlight the syllables he imagines most emphasized and finally listening either via a recording or orally by the teacher and 6). [...] Based on my current knowledge, in France, the singing tool is more commonly used during language learning in primary school. However, many studies seem to have been conducted on the virtues of this tool regardless of the learning levels. I will therefore refine my reflection on the subject through a bibliographic study of 5 scientific articles. We will propose here 5 reading notes. At the end, we will develop a research problem in view of the thesis. Bibliographic Research and Reading Notes We will therefore propose here 5 key articles dealing with the singing tool in the context of language learning and proceed to their analysis via reading notes.
