Lochères Social Center, internship report, social center, BTS services and health and social sectors, Sarcelles, France
This internship report provides an overview of my 6-week internship at the Lochères Social Center in Sarcelles, France. As part of my training in BTS services and health and social sectors, I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a social center and learn about its various activities and services. The report highlights the center's mission, services, and activities, as well as my personal experiences and observations during the internship.
[...] Its main missions are support and accompaniment. The Lochères social center is above all a place that: - Is open to all - Is attentive to the individual as to the community - Provides a global response to the needs of beneficiaries - Strengthen access to rights - Simplify administrative procedures - Create many activities for children, teenagers, adults and the family. It would be possible to summarize its activities by this scheme: - Description of observed activities During this internship, I observed two people who showed me all the activities of the center in turn. [...]
[...] I enrolled many families in the center. It also allowed me to get to know the center's different social partners: Finally, I was able to participate in a meeting where several of these partners had been invited to present the social project of the center: after projecting a power point, a time for exchange in small groups was arranged. Each one had to debate the strengths, weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages of the project. This taught me several communication techniques. The future of this project was discussed: the employees as well as the different partners expressed the wish that the town hall take over. [...]
[...] There is no competition but mutual aid. This is what makes this kind of structure precious for the community. It would be interesting to be able to count on more employees and that the structure has a CAF terminal as well as a free printer for visitors. The problem is that little money is allocated to them, which sometimes blocks possibilities. As these are disadvantaged people in disadvantaged neighborhoods, the top executives are not very reactive. The state makes a lot of cuts on civil servants: the staff who retire are not replaced and everything becomes progressively digitalized while this type of structure remains a privileged interlocutor for these people faced with difficulties such as language use, non-possession of internet, non-understanding of computer tools. [...]
[...] Perhaps it would be possible to entrust the task to a specific person and block a day for it. Conclusion The internship I did at the Lochères social center was a very positive experience. On the one hand, it meets the training requirements of my BTS. It is a social sector that meets several criteria required such as reactivity, taking the initiative, involvement, analysis and welcoming the public. I also learned the internal functioning of a small structure and the possibility of creating or not partnerships. [...]
[...] - The different types of requests (Scheduling social workers, registration for activity, request for help regarding CAF documents . The table must be printed and its use is very simple: it is enough for each new arrival or each new call to put a bar in front of the concerned box. At the end of the month, we proceed to the counting and fill in a second table intended for the headquarters. This one shows the details of the calls and visits as well as the influx during the week.
