France, Beer market, beer, popular drink, alcoholic drink, brewers, Heineken, Carlsberg, AB InBev, Pilsner
From a European legal point of view, the wine market is considered as a substitute for the beer market to a certain extent: the Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled on various occasions that only inexpensive wines (with a price relatively close to beer) can compete with beer, largely considered a popular drink (Commission/United Kingdom, February 27th, 1980, 170/78; and Commission/Belgium, July 9th, 1987, 365/85).
