Since the 1980s, the European football has become a large business, with very important financial stakes, but this model is hardly accepted in France. Consequently, the French football is suffering from a relatively low level in its championship. The results of its clubs in the European Champions league are worse than the English, Spanish, Italian or German clubs. French football is inefficient and not really competitive compared to the other Europeans countries and in addition, all the best players are playing aboard. With more financial means and because of the abundant circulation of people, the richer championships have gathered all talents and become much more attractive for supporters. French football needs to find a way to develop its efficiency and fill the gap with its competitors. Two main strategies are currently envisaged. First, a lot of institutions are supporting the idea that the European football needs to be regulated in order to have a fair competition. Secondly, there are a lot of measures that the French football needs to adopt concerning formation and financing, that could have a real potential to improve its attractiveness.
