Växjö is known as the greenest city in Europe, and this is its main promotional vector. We think it is interesting to investigate on what criteria this statement is based; because it is the main part of the product development and innovation plan. Moreover, Växjö has tried to reverse the trend from its former position; in the 1970's the city was really poorly environmentally structured. That is why it is fascinating to observe the efforts made that lead to this evolution. This challenge involves stakes at different levels, such as environmental, political, social, commercial and touristic. Nowadays, the environment and sustainable energies are becoming increasingly important issues. For instance, global warming and CO2 emission are on everyone's minds. Politicians all around the world have the responsibility of finding solutions to ensure the Earth's future. Authorities seem to support the green direction of the city, and politicians are concerned with offering an attractive image. This is now one of the main reasons for tourists to visit this town.
