With the Copenhagen Climate Conference taking place in December 2009, one of the main issues in the news currently is global warming and the way States should cooperate in order to face this problem. Since the beginning of the debate, the Indian government showed an intransigent point of view, as it does not want the development of the country to be restrained by new rules on greenhouse gases emissions, especially since it considers that "rich" countries are historically responsible for global warming. Even if developing India means increasing greenhouse gases emissions, India is aware of the environmental challenges it will have to face if nothing is done to stop global warming, and the government has already taken measures in order to make the development of the country more sustainable.
