This document discusses various methods used by local authorities and health professionals to promote health literacy among inhabitants, including traditional relay methods and innovative approaches.

[...] Her position also covers the animation of the Local Health Contract device at the scale of a Commune. The fifth professional is responsible for territorial mission of a commune. Due to her professional background and skills in the field of nutrition, she was able to develop, in agreement with her superiors, many actions related to health within the territory. Thus, we can already see through these different positions that municipalities and territories such as metropolitan areas have a concern for accompanying their inhabitants in the field of health, although they do not possess specific skills previously defined by law in the field of health. [...] Thus, Professional for example, described one of her missions, which consists of coordinating health city workshops (which have the objective of coordinating actors at the local level and also aim to promote population participation on health issues). By promoting the participation of residents, professionals participate in playing a mediating role between the residents of these neighborhoods and the health system. And through a domino effect, participation also enables the empowerment of residents on health issues. Because, although they do not systematically benefit from health facilities near their home, the actions implemented will promote health education and sometimes an interest in these populations in certain subjects that concern them directly or not. [...] During the various interviews with the professionals, the concept of literacy was more or less well understood by the interlocutors in general, as they did not know its exact meaning. It was sometimes necessary to re-specify its exact definition in the context of the first questions asked. However, all were able to observe that they were tasked with deploying actions to develop this literacy among different publics on the territory: for example, health actions in the sense of well-being around sports, setting up communal mutuals, fighting against STDs within the QPV where the prevalence is high (professional n°1); from prevention to care for different publics within the foundation (professional n°3).
