Abstract
Between 1973 and the early 1990s, Chile underwent a troubled political situation with a dictatorship situation of the government. Logically, the destinations in this situation remain on the sidelines of world tourism. But when the political crisis in Chile had subsided, giving way to democracy and greater security, tourism began to develop.
In this document, we will first see the actual economic situation of Chile and its role in international trade.
Then we will see the tourism sector situation in Chile, its benefits and disadvantages and threats.
As we said, Chile is the most performing economy of South America. The country is considered by foreign investors as a model of economic stability. For more than 30 years, Chile has had a healthy economic policy. This country is the biggest producer and exporter of copper in the world. Its economy is obviously dependent on the price evolution of copper. Nevertheless, Chile diversifies its economy with a lot of free trade agreements all over the world and investments in agribusiness.
