The 29th January 2012, the former American president, Georges W. Bush, during the annual State of the Union Address, talked about what he called the "Axis of evil", to describe countries which, according to him, were dangerous because of the help that they bring to terrorism and the fact that they are seeking massive destruction weapons. In this axis, he labeled Iran, Iraq and North Korea. Based on the expression, could we say that the United States of America are considered as a force for good in the world?
First, we will see that many points could let us think that the USA is effectively acting for good causes in the whole world, but then, we will talk about the limits of this affirmation and the excess of this doctrine.
To begin, since the end of the cold war, during which the USA already had the will of representing the Goodness in the world, the situation, has not really evolved. The USA, in its foreign policy since the Second World War, has always had the objective of being a kind of "Super Cop" in the world, and to intervene in the great conflicts all over the world.
