European Territorial Cooperation programs aim to reduce administrative burdens and improve public administration efficiency through advisory services and investment projects.
[...] The inter-regional cooperation at the European level is funded by INTERREG 5 from 2014 to 2020, through a contribution from the FEDER of 500 million euros. It is based on networks to develop good practices and facilitate exchanges and experience transfers for the regions. INTERREG 5 comprises four inter-regional cooperation programs: INTERREG EUROPE, concerns the EU countries, Norway and Switzerland, with a budget of 359 million euros. This regional development programme is in line with the EU Cohesion Policies, as well as national development policies. The cross-border cooperation reposes on the INTERREG programmes, managed by the European Commission for European regions with physical terrestrial borders, with Interreg I (1990-1993), II (1994-1999), III (2000-2006), IV (2007-2013) and V (2014-2020). There are 60 active cross-border programmes for the 38 internal borders of the European Union, for a total amount of 6.6 billion euros, which are completed by 12 other programmes, via the Pre-Accession Instrument1 and 17 through the European Neighbourhood Instrument.
