The company Hewlett Packard was created in Palo Alto by two engineers, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in the year 1939. This project was developed right after the Second World War, by the formulation of scientific applications for the computer and printer domains. Just after its creation, HP was well known for the quality and reliability of its products and the new innovative ideas that were displayed by their brands. The charisma of the two founders has engendered a high company culture based on the humanism, the HP way. The culture, notoriety and the strong image of the brand was realized by adopting a paternalistic way of management where the employees hold a central position in the company and a consensus was always obtained in order to make decisions. This working method and culture was integrated in the company before the arrival of Carly Fiorina in 1999. This 46 years old women, who has built her career in the telecoms, became the first woman CEO and more importantly the first CEO who was recruited outside the HP Company.
