Since its presupposed apparition with the Thucydide's narration of the Peloponnesian war, the study of International Relations has, focused on the military force. It is an element omnipresent in the international system since the apparition of the Westphalian order, and even before the military force has constituted a fundamental instrument between states playing preponderant role addressing disputes and power relations through the prism of war among rival organized societies. Recent developments among the field of International Relations tend to hand-over the traditional view on military capability to fulfill its attribute of power. However, with respect to the affirmation proposed, "Military force is a blunt and ineffectual instrument of power in the contemporary international system". The present paper will develop a contradictory posture.
