The coup of 18 Brumaire had no bloodshed and it freed the prisoners. It was a coup appreciated by the French. Napolean established peace in Vendee. 60% of the 150,000 immigrants went back to France. In 1800, Napoleon returned to Les Invalides. "I assured order, prosperity and peace. All the robbers are arrested and the order is restored", said Napolean after the coup. Confidence in the currency came back and finally a phase of peace. Napoleon was the art of celebration and the French had the feeling of living in a golden age.
