[...] Transgender In my opinion, the theme of the transgender is the most important in this movie. The story is about a Mexican criminal who wants to be a woman. For years, he felt like a woman and starts the process of sex change, gender change and identity change with the help of Rita. This change affects his physical appearance, with his transition to change sex, hair, voice and way of dressing. In society, this process is done with his new name, Emilia. [...]
[...] I think they are a symbol of leadership and friendship. However, there are some elements in the movie that I didn't like. For example, I didn't like the character of Manitas del Monte's wife. I think she doesn't have a trusting relationship with her husband, she also has a very negative attitude towards Rita and is very violent. Additionally, I don't like her dialogue in Spanish, although I understand that it forms part of her character as a Latina and American. [...]
[...] Emilia Perez is a film where we find various emotions such as suspense, sensitivity and sadness. In my opinion, one of the elements of the film that I liked the most was the scenario for its originality. The story is very original, because it deals with transsexuality and the process of sex change of Manitas de Monte; a man known for his virility and violence in the Mexican drug cartel. Additionally, I found it very interesting the way the story is told, with a musical comedy mixing suspense and emotion. [...]
[...] The man is the leader of one of the most dangerous cartels in Mexico. He wants to become a woman and evolves as a better and more involved human being to act in a positive way. She commits to an association to search for the disappeared due to criminal activities in Mexico. At a personal level, she falls in love with a woman and evolves by loving a person. However, we see in the movie the limits of evolving as a human being, because Emilia becomes very violent, like Manitas del Monte. [...]
