A brief presentation of the school: the place, the team, the students and a typical week INMSOL is ideally located in the historic center of the city, and more precisely in the very lively Realejo neighborhood, which dates back to the Muslim era and was also a Jewish ghetto in the Middle Ages. This allows for a break, and just after class, to be on foot to visit historic Granada and enjoy some tapas (see map in annex). [...]
[...] The idea of doing this language stay in Spain and more specifically in Andalusia, became quickly obvious to me because this destination presented an interest for my school course and my intellectual formation. - Indeed, I wish to acquire a real mastery of Spanish because several of my study projects are linked to this language, notably that of doing archaeology in Latin America and traveling in this part of the world. However, it does not seem wise to me to approach such a rich area without having previously acquired a serious knowledge of this vehicular language that is Spanish for Latin American countries. [...]
[...] Filomena and Pepe went to bed late, very Spanish, and sometimes it happened to me in the evening to watch with Pepe on Spanish television, the news or a police series. 2. Activities carried out during my free time During my free time, in the evening and on Saturday, I was able to enjoy the city independently or in the company of students I met at INMSOL or in my apartment. We regularly enjoyed some delicious tapas in bars, which allowed me to discover that life was much cheaper in Granada than in France or in other European countries, as confirmed by some students. [...] During the second week, we worked more on grammar with more written exercises that we did in the files that had been distributed to us; but we also worked on vocabulary and idiomatic expressions, related to an important dimension of Spanish culture, food, in order to know more about Spanish gastronomy and be able to manage in restaurants. [...] A huge fire was lit, there were a lot of people, then two singers started singing folk songs from Spanish folklore, and we started dancing around the fire. But the highlight of the show was when around 1am the firefighters arrived to put out the fire with their water cannon and spray the crowd that was asking for more and laughing. I left shortly after, but I knew that the party continued until the end of the night and that some people were going to take a car to the sea to swim and celebrate the water. [...]
