Abstract
Firstly, Great Britain is a monarchy because a King or a Queen is at the head of the State. Yet, we must make a distinction between 2 sorts of monarchy: absolute monarchy and constitutional monarchy. We may all know that Great Britain is not an absolute monarchy since Queen Elizabeth II doesn't have absolute power. Indeed, her power is limited by law and by conventions, customs and practises, that's why we can talk about a constitutional monarchy.
Secondly, we must underline the fact that the British monarch is not only at the head of Great Britain, but also at the head of the Commonwealth. Actually there are 15 countries throughout the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Jamaica which recognize the British monarch as its monarch.
