Depending on the theoretical frame used by scholars, the perception of a state, at the time of increased globalization is really different. Its role, its place in international society, its obligations and what jeopardizes it, gets completely antagonist answers. Between those who believe that the state is outdated, and those who are convinced that it is on the contrary more relevant than ever, the role of the state is an issue that deserves to be discussed. Among all the questions it carries, the problem of its sovereignty is surely a subject of debate. The way a state's sovereignty is thought in international relation theory, is based on the Westphalian system, from the Westphalia treaty signed in 1964. It ended the Thirty Years War between European states and put the basis of the state's sovereignty as we know it. It claims that the state is sovereign in its own territory, where it implements its own rules and that no other state can interfere in this process. Since 1648 however, the scholars have noticed an erosion of sovereignty.
