George W. Bush is an American politician who served as the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he is the son of former President George H. W. Bush. His presidency was defined by the response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the subsequent War on Terror, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Domestically, he implemented tax cuts and education reforms but faced criticism for his handling of Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 financial crisis.
