During the last decade Business's role and position in the society has changed, expecting now from it a responsible participation. Consumers are now more aware of some negative effects of globalization and society has become more critical. Nowadays, companies deal with many and diverse kinds of actions or concepts. In this time of intense global competition, it is necessary to hit the high degree of competitiveness. Businesses today have to look beyond their self-interest, and face complex responsibilities such as environment, respect of human rights and also social activities. Archie B. Carroll developed "The Pyramidal of Corporate Social Responsibility" in 1991, helping to understand the whole concept of CSR with his figures. Business and Society become closer and their relationship leads companies to adopt corporate responsibilities dealing with issues related to values and expectations from all its stakeholders, for fulfilling economic, legal, ethical and philanthropic responsibilities.
