[...] The territorial inequalities in academic performance are therefore closely associated with the social environments of the students represented on these territories. However, this relationship between socio-economic context and academic performance is not systematic. This discrepancy has been the subject of several research works initiated within the framework of the report Socio-spatial inequalities in education. Segregative processes, social capital and policies (Broccolichi et Trancart, 2006; Broccolichi et al., 2007).
