The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic containing fifty states and a federal district. English is the predominant language and the majority of Americans' are Christians. At 3.79 million square miles, and with over 300 million people of mixed races, the United States is the fourth largest country by total area and third largest by land area and by population. To do business in the US, it is really important to be able to talk English and Spanish. Effectively, the English is spoken by about 82% of the population as a native language. Spanish is the second common language in the country, spoken by 30 million people, 12% of the population. American business people are generally less strict than in France. There are a few durable and quick rules. The way you deal with American business colleagues will depend on the individual. Most Americans will get very frustrated if you come to ask a question, but spend the first fifteen minutes talking about family. They also expect you to make eye contact when you speak with them. Americans also expect you to be honest and direct, even if you are coming with bad news.
