Abstract
The topic of ‘youth gangs' has become an important issue which concerns a lot of communities, especially the police. The available empirical evidence suggests that gangs are present in almost every continent, especially in urban areas but also increasingly in other regions. The proliferation of gangs is a serious safety problem worldwide, and not only in America and Latin America where you can find the most number of gangs.
In recent decades, dangerous gangs have grown in many countries around the world because they are held responsible for the alarming increase in murders, rapes, robberies and threats against citizens of all social classes.
In the analysis of delinquency, the term “gangs” and “subculture” go together. The concept “subculture” is often vague but has the general connotation of a group of people with values that differ from the dominant values of society.
Thus, we can broadly speak about gangs as a crime that is committed in the group context. This may be in the form of small groups that opportunistically break the law, neighborhood-based groups, or highly organized crime syndicates.
My capacity as a social marketing consultant and my researches will be permit us to understand and ultimately prevent involvement in gangs in Serbia, known worldwide for their violence, particularly the gang of Pink Panthers.
