Idea of progress, progress, consumerism, pollution, Freegans, hyper-consumerism
Progress is going forwards, increasing, improving. The notion of progress is a modern idea opposed to the stability which dominated in the past. Throughout History, most of the advances have been positive, they improved our lifestyle such as the invention of the washing machine or the dishwasher and even allowed us to increase our life expectancy with the discovery of new vaccines and antibiotics. However, the rhythm of progress seems to have accelerated over the last few decades and led us to a consumer and materialistic society.
