Research on media coverage of Bahrain reveals limited French-language news and a focus on sports and infrastructure.
[...] Still in the spirit of broadening my research, I thought to search for the list of online French-language media, particularly in Africa. It was through this channel that I found the article by the Ivorian Press Agency on the international conference on the unity of Islam that the Kingdom of Bahrain was hosting. As mentioned earlier, articles on sports and F1 tests were easy to find via Google. I also conducted a search directly on the websites of the main French newspapers (Libération, Le Monde, Le point, Paris Match, etc.) and it was through this that I found the article on the website of the magazine Le Point, the only article on politics that shows a certain bias from the beginning of the article, as it mentions a desire of the Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain, to counter the statements of Donald Trump. [...]
[...] In fact, the most easily accessible articles about Bahrain are exclusively focused on the preparations for the 2025 Formula 1 season that took place in the country in February last year. With my research conducted globally on the kingdom, I thought that a thematic search on the country's advantages might perhaps lead me to discover more articles. [...] It was especially difficult for me to find French-language news, the first media that appeared after searching on Google and other search engines being mainly Arabic or English-language media (Al Jazeera in particular). I also conducted research on the country itself on the first day, which allowed me to see that Bahrain controls the media as well as the internet, explaining why it is very difficult to find articles discussing internal politics, for example, which would then be relayed by French media. A neutral or impartial coverage of local news therefore seems difficult. [...]
[...] I explain this probably by the fact that it was a weekend. The few articles that appeared were past articles mentioning F1 tests. In conducting research on government websites, I found the article mentioned in the table, dating from January, and it seemed interesting to include it in that it mentions the official visit of the King of Bahrain to France. In conclusion, the articles found show a willingness to highlight the importance of high-level sports and the infrastructure that Bahrain possesses, as well as the country's desire to be present in international issues related to Islam.
