Allergy, pollen, IgE dosage, ImmunoCAP, antihistamine, immunotherapy, allergen vaccination, skin prick tests
This article discusses the diagnosis and management of pollen allergies, including the role of molecular allergy diagnosis, specific IgE dosing, and immunotherapy.
[...] The highest concentrations of pollen grains are observed in the spring (May). Hwang and his collaborators in 2022 conducted an interesting study on the link between pollen sensitization and pollen allergy food syndrome (PAFS) (51). The study involved 133 patients registered in three cities: Busan Fukuoka and Tochigi (n=20). Busan is a city in South Korea, while Fukuoka and Tochigi are cities in Japan. These three cities have similar average temperatures, humidity, and types of fruits consumed, but differ in their tree vegetation. [...]
[...] SLIT, on the other hand, involves placing an allergen extract tablet under the tongue until dissolution to 2 minutes). Five products are currently approved in Canada, including Oralair and Grastek for grass pollen (40). This mode of administration offers several advantages: the absence of injections, the possibility of home treatment and a better overall tolerance. The most frequent adverse effects are mild and localized. They include, among others, mouth itching, throat irritation, auricular pruritus. Finally, these symptoms usually disappear after the first week (39). [...]
[...] Therefore, most pollen food allergies are due to the Quercus ilex allergen. In Turkey, Akdo?an Karada? and Altuno?lu conducted an aeropalynological study in the province of Kars over a period of 2 years (48). This area is characterized by a high altitude and a harsh climate. For the quantification of pollen present in the atmosphere, they use a volumetric pollen and spore trap of the Hirst type. The average annual pollen concentration is 14931 pollen/m3 with 39 species of pollen (taxa) identified. [...]
[...] Furthermore, on day 15, the group that took the product had a significant increase in the levels of specific IgA saliva (p=0.0299) and specific IgG serum (p=0.0006). Thus, the cream allowed for the rapid production of antagonist antibodies against IgE and can serve as a valuable therapeutic antigen for SAPA. 4-2-Questionnaire Method In this part, we will present the answers we obtained with the questionnaire sent to general practitioners. In fact, we obtained the responses of 4 general practitioners who took the trouble to answer our pre-established questionnaire. Among them, the majority were men i.e. against only one woman i.e. 25%). [...]
[...] These people were examined twice at eight-year intervals. Allergic rhinitis to pollen was defined by a history of nasal symptoms during pollen exposure and specific IgE to pollen. Allergic asthma to pollen was defined by a history of lower respiratory symptoms during pollen exposure and specific IgE to pollen. At the end of the study, all subjects followed who suffered from pollen allergy asthma presented with pollen allergy rhinitis. Furthermore, through a longitudinal analysis new cases of pollen allergy asthma were recorded. [...]
