[...] Strategies of Lesbian and Queer Desire Writing in Spanish Literature Invention Writing - Strategies of Lesbian and Queer Desire Writing in Spanish Literature First Part: Inventive Creation After my art studies, I had started frequenting Mercedes. We met at my best friend Maria's house, at a birthday party. At this party, I had eyes only for Mercedes, I was troubled . I had come with my boyfriend at the time, Pablo. Mercedes had something very magnetic: her cat eyes, her mischievous smile, her striking presence, her naughty laugh, and a very fast speech that showed she loved to bite life to the bone. [...]
[...] Of having avoided my desire for women, and since when? That, I don't know. Maybe always. But with Mercedes, everything had become obvious, but I rejected it deeply. I rejected this evidence, I rejected HER, I rejected MYSELF. How much longer could I keep going? Because, in truth, I thought about her every day and I was completely depressed when she was far from me. I knew I had to see her again. [...] For some time now, I hadn't felt much for him. Pablo was kind and attentive, that wasn't the problem. After we settled down, I had lost all desire for him. And the more time passed, the less I envisioned a future with him. To distract myself and unconsciously, I threw myself into my studies. I had prioritized my studies over our future plans. Future plans could wait. We were only 30 years old, and I needed to focus on myself, and I especially wanted to enjoy my life. [...]
