The financial policies leaded by Lula, established the trust in the Brazilian market. The economic growth was around 0.5% in 2003 and reached 3.3 in 2005. Brazil has historically been one of the preferred countries for foreign investors. Retail and consumer, and particularly the food and beverage segment, is the most attractive sector for FDI in Brazil in 2005 with more than 5 billion US dollars invested. Currently, the Brazilian property market is very attractive for both, local and foreign investors. In general, foreign or local investors are welcome and treated equally as regards investments incentives or tax concessions. Very few restrictions are imposed on foreign ownership.
