The Google Inc. Company was created in 1998 by two young students who met at the Stanford University (USA), Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The company is in the Silicon Valley in California. Its core business is to provide results from a search engine to people. At the beginning, the two founders led the company by themselves, but since 2001, Eric Schmidt joined Google Inc. as CEO. Today, the company has around 16,000 employees who work, for a major part, at the Googleplex (name of Google's main office) in Mountain View. The main mission of the company is to organize information on a worldwide scale and to make it accessible. Google is a derivation of the word googol, which refers to the number represented by 1 followed by a 100 zeros. Google's use of the term reflects probably the company's mission to organize information available on the web and in the world.
